Buggy Totem is a collection of unfinished indie games and game jam projects that lets players experience games in progress while learning how they are made through developer logs, bugs, design notes, and post-mortems.

A New Bundle Idea

The Buggy Totem is a collection of incomplete games and game jam projects framed as a learning tool for aspiring developers. We grew up on demo discs, but today we have a USB flash drive of games before and after they were finished. Each bundle is a great way to support indie developers and learn directly from their dev logs and bugs.

Instead of only seeing the finished version of a game, Buggy Totem gives players a chance to see some of the work that happens along the way. The unfinished versions, mistakes, design decisions, and developer notes can offer a different look at the indie game development process.

What Comes in a Buggy Totem Bundle?

Each bundle includes playable versions of indie games alongside resources that explain more about how they were created. This can include developer logs, game design eBooks, post-mortems, and other material showing what developers learned while making and releasing their games.

The idea is to make the development process part of the experience. For aspiring game developers, seeing how other creators approach problems, test ideas, and learn from bugs can be just as useful as playing the finished game.

Support The Movement

After a few design iterations, we launched it with the first 3 games! Toil, Mobia’s Trip, and Handshakes all come included. Not just the final version, but the playable “buggy” version.

Whether you have Mac, PC, or Linux, you can plug in this USB-A and game for yourself. Each flash drive comes with game design eBooks, developer logs, and other resources like post mortems about what the dev learned after release.

Each developer gets a portion of the proceeds, so it’s a great way to support. To buy, find us at your local game convention or jump in our Discord!

Why Play Unfinished Indie Games?

Finished games usually show the final result, but unfinished builds can show the decisions and problems that happened along the way. Buggy Totem gives players and aspiring developers a chance to explore that side of game creation through playable prototypes, development notes, bugs, and lessons from the developers themselves.

We always encourage financially supporting developers throughout the journey of the game’s development, not just at the end. The lights have to stay on until the game is done, so try to tip them along the way. Sharing your experiences and love for a game being developed is another way to support the indie team. It can get others excited and always gives the devs a little boost of motivation. Remember… subscribing, liking, and sharing goes far and it’s FREE!
